Ready to lead a classroom where every pupil matters—and every breakthrough is celebrated?

We’re supporting a group of brilliant SEND schools in Newcastle that work with children and young people with a wide range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD), SEMH, and communication challenges.

Whether you’re an experienced SEND Teacher or a qualified mainstream teacher ready to make the move into specialist education, we’d love to help you find a role where your impact is felt every day.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Planning and delivering creative, adapted lessons for small groups or 1:1 sessions

  • Aligning your teaching to EHCP targets and individual learning goals

  • Using inclusive and trauma-informed approaches to build pupil trust and engagement

  • Supporting and collaborating with a team of TAs, therapists, and families

  • Creating a calm, consistent classroom environment where all learners feel seen and safe

What you’ll need:

  • QTS or QTLS (essential)

  • Experience working in a SEND or alternative provision setting (ideal, not essential)

  • A flexible, compassionate approach to behaviour support and emotional regulation

  • Strong classroom management and curriculum adaptation skills

  • A genuine drive to improve outcomes for children with additional needs

What you’ll get from Protocol Education:

  • FREE Thrive training and CPD focused on emotional wellbeing and inclusive practice

  • A dedicated Newcastle-based SEND consultant who knows the schools inside out

  • Long-term and permanent roles in well-resourced, welcoming SEND settings

  • Career guidance and opportunities for progression in specialist education

This is a role that calls for heart, resilience, and creativity—but the rewards are massive. If you're ready to lead a class where progress looks different (and matters more), we’d love to hear from you.
