Are you a qualified Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs?
Protocol Education is working with a range of supportive and inclusive SEND schools in the Gateshead area who are seeking Level 3 qualified Teaching Assistants to join their teams. These roles involve supporting pupils with a variety of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, and communication difficulties.

The Role:

As a SEND TA, you will:

  • Support students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups to meet individual targets.

  • Work collaboratively with class teachers and SENCOs to deliver personalised learning plans.

  • Help manage behaviour and promote engagement using de-escalation strategies.

  • Assist pupils with personal care if required.

  • Maintain a positive, nurturing learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) – essential

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND (in schools or alternative settings)

  • Confidence in working with challenging behaviour and using positive behaviour support strategies

  • A calm, caring, and flexible approach

  • A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
