SEND Support Worker (School-based) – Newcastle

We’re working with a specialist setting in Newcastle that supports autistic learners and pupils with complex needs. Their ethos is simple but powerful: create a safe, structured environment where every pupil is valued, understood, and supported to thrive.
They’re looking for a compassionate, proactive SEND Support Worker to join their team—someone who believes that every child deserves to be seen, heard, and championed on their learning journey.
What you’ll be doing:

Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism and complex learning needs

Supporting communication strategies, sensory routines, and daily transitions

Helping pupils manage behaviour, emotional regulation, and feel safe in the school environment

Working closely with teachers, therapists, and families to offer consistent support and care
What we’re looking for:

Experience supporting children or young people with SEND in schools, care, or youth services
-
A calm, flexible approach and strong relationship-building skills
-
Confidence around behaviour support and emotional needs (we’ll help with training if needed)

An understanding of autism—or a real curiosity and openness to learn
