SEND Support Assistant – Primary (Long-Term Opportunity)
Location: Harlow Green Area | Full-Time | Immediate Start | Competitive Daily Rate

Protocol Education is working closely with a supportive and inclusive primary school in the Harlow Green area to recruit a dedicated SEND Support Assistant. This role involves providing 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil with an EHCP. The child presents with challenging behaviour and requires a consistent, understanding adult to help them navigate the school day and access learning.

Contract Details:

  • Duration: Until the end of the academic year (July)

  • Future Opportunities: High likelihood of continuation due to ongoing EHCP funding

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil with additional needs and challenging behaviour

  • Implement tailored strategies in line with the pupil’s EHCP

  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor progress and adapt approaches as needed

  • Use de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour support to manage challenging situations

  • Create a nurturing environment that supports both emotional and academic development

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience supporting children with SEND and managing challenging behaviour

  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques

  • Calm, resilient, and empathetic approach

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a wider team

  • Familiarity with EHCPs and experience in a mainstream primary setting (desirable)

  • A valid DBS (on the Update Service or willing to obtain one)
