SEND Support Assistant | Full-Time Role | September Start | Fenham

Want to make a real difference for children with complex needs? We’re looking for a calm, compassionate, and proactive Teaching Assistant to join a skilled, supportive team in Fenham this September.

You’ll be working closely with a small group of high-needs pupils, most of whom are non-verbal, providing consistency, connection, and care throughout the school day. Your time will be split between their dedicated base and mainstream EYFS, KS1, and KS2 classrooms, offering targeted interventions like speech and language support, box time, and Lego therapy.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting a group of high-needs pupils with patience and positivity

  • Assisting with early communication strategies for non-verbal learners

  • Delivering creative, play-based interventions to support speech, language, and emotional regulation

  • Working alongside an experienced, established team who will share pupil insights and guide your practice

  • Helping children transition smoothly between their base and mainstream class settings

What we’re looking for:

  • A confident, nurturing support professional ready to get stuck in

  • Experience with non-verbal or pre-verbal children (or a willingness to learn)

  • Patience, observation skills, and the ability to respond to needs without overwhelming pupils

  • Knowledge of strategies like Lego therapy, box time, or sensory support, or a keen interest in developing these skills

Why you’ll love this role:

  • You’ll be part of a close-knit team who care deeply about the pupils and each other

  • Every day is different, you’ll see progress, celebrate small wins, and make a real impact

  • You’ll develop skills in speech and language, early communication, and therapeutic interventions

  • You’ll work in a school that values inclusive education and gives staff the tools and trust to succeed

  • Most importantly, you’ll help children feel calm, confident, and capable, just by being there

This is a brilliant opportunity to join a school with a strong, collaborative ethos and a deep commitment to inclusive learning.

Apply today and be part of a team making school feel safe, exciting, and achievable for every child.
