SEND HLTA – Calm, Capable, and Ready to Make a Difference!
Got a talent for turning tricky days into progress? This one’s for you.
We’re looking for a compassionate and experienced SEND Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs in a specialist or mainstream setting in Romford.
If you’re the calm in the storm, the steady presence that pupils can count on, and someone who knows their PECs from their PIVATS, we want to work with you.
What the role involves:
-
Leading small group and 1:1 learning for pupils with SEND (e.g. autism, ADHD, SEMH)
-
Working closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to deliver individualised support
-
Helping to create safe, inclusive learning spaces where pupils can thrive
-
Supporting regulation strategies and positive behaviour plans
You’ll need:
-
HLTA qualification (or substantial experience in SEND support)
-
A calm, confident approach and bags of patience
-
Strong communication and empathy skills
-
Experience with EHCPs, sensory needs, or trauma-informed approaches (bonus points if Thrive trained – or ask us how to get it for free!)
What we offer:
-
Weekly PAYE pay (no umbrella deductions!)
-
FREE CPD including Thrive training and de-escalation strategies
-
A consultant who understands SEND settings (and won’t throw you into the wrong one)
-
Access to long-term roles where you can build real relationships
This isn’t just about cover—it’s about connection. If you’re ready to bring your experience to schools that really value support staff, we’d love to hear from you.
