SEND Teaching Assistant – Esher

Supporting a Year 3 Pupil with Complex Needs | Full-Time | £89–£110 per day (PAYE)

We’re working with a caring, inclusive primary school in Esher that’s looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support a non-verbal pupil with autism (ASD) as she transitions into Year 3.

You’ll be working in a calm, bespoke classroom alongside a fellow TA, supporting her learning, communication, and personal care needs throughout the day. This isn’t a typical TA job—it’s a chance to make a profound difference for a child who needs consistency, kindness, and creativity.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Delivering pre-planned, tailored activities to meet the pupil’s developmental and sensory needs

  • Supporting communication through visuals, SALT-led interventions, and the attention bucket approach

  • Ensuring safety and wellbeing at all times—including personal care (the pupil wears nappies)

  • Working closely with another TA to co-create a nurturing learning space

  • Managing behaviour with calm, consistent strategies and clear boundaries

  • Liaising with staff and external specialists (SALT, OT, behaviour) for ongoing support

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting children with ASD and complex learning needs

  • Confidence in personal care and understanding of sensory profiles

  • A calm, patient approach—especially during challenging behaviours

  • Someone who works well in a team and isn’t afraid to get creative

  • Knowledge of EHCPs, visual supports, and bespoke SEND interventions
