SEN Teaching Assistant in Wandsworth, London

Job Description: We are seeking a passionate and conscientious SEN Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team at Chelsea Hall School. As an outstanding Independent Special School for students aged 4-11 with mild to moderate, complex learning needs, we are committed to providing the best educational support possible.

Role Overview:

  • Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Location: Wandsworth, London
  • Salary: £21,000 - £24,000 per year
  • Start Date: ASAP-August (Depending on vacancies)
  • Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the educational, social, and emotional development of students with special educational needs (SEN).
  • Assisting the class teacher in planning and delivering tailored learning activities.
  • Providing one-to-one support for students with SEN to help them achieve their learning goals.
  • Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Collaborating with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support student development.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or willingness to work towards one.
  • Prior experience working with children with SEN is desirable.
  • Understanding of the needs of students with SEN.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Additional training in areas such as Makaton, Team Teach, or Autism Awareness is preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-Time, Monday to Friday.
  • Work may involve physical activities such as assisting students with mobility or personal care.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
