About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) to work with junior students in small, focused groups of up to 6 learners. As part of our close-knit team, you will provide essential support in an alternative education academy designed to nurture and empower students who need a different approach to learning.
You’ll work with students aged 7-11, helping them grow academically, socially, and emotionally, while ensuring they feel confident and valued in their educational journey. Your role will be vital in tailoring lessons to individual needs, managing classroom behavior positively, and helping students overcome barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the class teacher in delivering tailored lessons for students with SEN.
- Managing small group sessions, focusing on specific learning objectives.
- Helping students develop their self-esteem, social skills, and independence.
- Monitoring progress, providing feedback, and working closely with other support staff to deliver a cohesive approach.
- Assisting with behavior management strategies, fostering a positive and nurturing environment.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly in an educational setting.
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to inclusive education.
- Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., a Level 2 or 3 TA qualification) are desirable, but not essential – we welcome applications from those with the right experience and mindset.
