We are seeking a Learning Support Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a child with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) at a reputable school in Colchester, Essex.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide dedicated support to a specific child with SEND, ensuring they have access to the curriculum and learning resources. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to implement tailored strategies and interventions, aiming to enhance the child's educational experience and progress.

Responsibilities:

Work on a 1:1 basis with the identified SEND child, fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Assist the child with their academic tasks, ensuring they understand instructions and offering guidance when needed.

Encourage and motivate the child to engage in classroom activities and social interactions.

Collaborate with the wider school team, attending meetings and providing valuable insights to optimize the child's learning experience.

Support the child in developing essential life skills, building their confidence and independence.

Ensure the child's safety and well-being at all times, following school policies and procedures.

Requirements:

✅Previous experience working with children with SEND or relevant qualifications in Special Educational Needs (SEN) would be advantageous.

✅A patient and caring approach, with the ability to build strong rapport and establish trust with the child.

✅Good communication skills, both verbal and written, to liaise effectively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.

✅Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the child's changing needs and learning preferences.

✅A commitment to promoting inclusivity and diversity within the school community.

✅Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) and appropriate Right to Work documentation.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
