We’re looking for brilliant SEMH Support Assistants to join secondary schools across Newcastle—supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who need more than just a lesson plan. They need someone who listens, who stays steady, and who believes in them, even on the tough days.
What the role looks like:

Supporting students 1:1 and in small groups to build trust and emotional regulation

Working closely with SENCOs, pastoral teams, and teaching staff

Using trauma-informed approaches to reduce anxiety and improve engagement

Helping students stay on track emotionally, socially, and academically
What we’re looking for:

Experience working with young people with SEMH or behavioural needs

A resilient, empathetic, and non-judgemental approach

Confidence to handle challenging behaviour with calmness and care

Bonus if you’ve worked in PRUs, APs or similar settings
