Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Northumberland
Salary: £85–£100 per day
Contract: Full-time, Long-term

Want to help young people build brighter futures? This could be your next role.

We’re working with a fantastic specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school in Northumberland that’s looking for a brilliant Teaching Assistant to join their team.

This is more than just a classroom role—it’s about supporting children and young people to grow into confident, motivated individuals who are prepared for life ahead. You’ll be part of a school that truly values kindness, self-awareness, empathy, and doing the right thing—because it’s the right thing to do.

Perfect for those living in Blyth and the surrounding areas, or ideally those who can commute.

What’s involved?

  • Supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs to access learning and thrive
  • Helping young people build positive relationships and develop their emotional and social skills
  • Creating a calm, safe classroom environment where pupils feel respected and supported
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and families to provide tailored, consistent support
  • Celebrating progress—no matter how small—and helping pupils believe in themselves

What we’re looking for:

Kind, calm, and compassionate—you’re the steady hand that helps when things get tough

Someone who understands that behaviour is communication, and is ready to help pupils navigate challenges

Great at building trusting relationships with both pupils and staff

A team player who shares the school’s commitment to self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, and motivation

Why this role?
Because here, you won’t just be helping pupils in the classroom—you’ll be helping shape their futures. You’ll be part of a team that works together to help young people achieve their full potential, not just academically but personally too.
