Salary: £89 - £108 per day (depending on experience)

Protocol Education is working with a number of specialist and alternative provisions across Gateshead who are seeking skilled and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistants to support pupils who may be at risk of exclusion or who require a therapeutic approach to learning.
The Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:

Support pupils with SEMH needs, often on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.

Work alongside teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams to implement behaviour strategies and emotional regulation techniques.

Provide structure and routine to help pupils re-engage with learning.

Help pupils build confidence, self-esteem, and positive relationships.

Contribute to personalised learning plans and behaviour support plans.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:

Has experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour or trauma-informed needs (e.g., in education, youth work, residential care or similar).

Is calm, consistent, and able to de-escalate situations with empathy.

Has a genuine commitment to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.

Is emotionally resilient, reflective, and keen to develop professionally.

Holds (or is willing to apply for) an enhanced DBS on the Update Service.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
