Be the calm in the storm

We’re looking for a resilient and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support primary pupils at risk of exclusion due to SEMH needs and challenging behaviour. This role is about building trust, creating safe spaces, and helping children find better ways to express themselves.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups with social, emotional and behavioural needs

  • Using de-escalation strategies to manage challenging behaviour

  • Working with the SENCO and class teacher to put tailored support in place

  • Helping pupils build confidence, resilience and positive relationships

  • Keeping learning on track by creating calm, structured routines

What we’re looking for

  • Experience supporting children with SEMH or challenging behaviour

  • Patience, resilience and a calm approach under pressure

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Someone who celebrates progress—no matter how small
