Salary: £89-£108 per day (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only

We’re working with a brilliant alternative provision in Gateshead supporting young people who’ve experienced social, emotional, or mental health challenges. They’re on the lookout for a resilient, empathetic Teaching Assistant who can help pupils re-engage with learning-and believe in themselves again.

Your role:

Supporting pupils aged 11–16 in and out of the classroom

Building strong, respectful relationships with young people who may not trust easily

Helping pupils regulate their emotions and re-engage with learning
-
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team including therapists and mentors

Supporting delivery of a flexible curriculum, including life skills and vocational learning
You’ll need to bring:

Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs

A calm, consistent and non-judgemental approach
-
Excellent communication and de-escalation skills
-
Confidence to set boundaries while building trust
-
A belief that no pupil is ever a ‘lost cause’
