SEMH Teacher – Middlesbrough

Salary: Weekly PAYE pay (rate based on experience)

Some pupils need more than just a teacher—they need someone steady, patient, and totally unflappable.
We’re working with a specialist setting in Middlesbrough that supports pupils with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. They’re on the lookout for a dedicated classroom teacher who can create a safe, consistent space for learners who’ve often faced more than their fair share of challenges.

What you’ll be doing:

Teaching small classes of pupils with SEMH needs

Creating routines that help pupils feel safe and ready to learn

Building strong relationships based on trust, respect, and consistency

Planning flexible, engaging lessons with a trauma-informed lens

Working closely with TAs, support staff, and external agencies
What you’ll need:

QTS or equivalent teaching qualification

Experience in SEMH or PRU settings (or mainstream with high-need pupils)

A positive, empathetic approach to behaviour management

Confidence in adapting lessons to suit a range of learning styles

A thick skin, a big heart, and a genuine drive to make a difference

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
