SEMH Teacher
Location: South Shields
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Start Date: September 2025 / Immediate
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teacher to join a specialist setting in South Tyneside. The school supports children and young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs, often alongside additional SEND, and is committed to helping every pupil achieve academically, socially, and personally.
The Role
As an SEMH Teacher, you will:

Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for pupils with SEMH needs across KS2–KS4

Use a trauma-informed, relational approach to support pupils in overcoming barriers to learning

Create safe, structured classroom environments where positive behaviour is modelled and reinforced

Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral staff, and external professionals to provide wraparound support

Inspire pupils to build resilience, independence, and confidence both inside and outside the classroom
About You

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) required

Experience teaching pupils with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or alternative provision settings

Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

Knowledge of restorative practice, Thrive, or other therapeutic approaches is desirable

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
