Job Title: SEMH Support Assistant – Secondary Schools (Newcastle & Northumberland)

Pay: £90–£110 per day (that’s roughly £450–£550 a week for 5 days, paid weekly through PAYE)

Got a knack for staying calm when things get a bit stormy?

We’re on the lookout for SEMH Support Assistants to work in secondary schools across Newcastle and Northumberland. These schools need steady, encouraging adults who can help pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs feel safe, understood and ready to learn.

You’ll be working with students who may have experienced challenges outside of school and need someone in their corner to guide them through their day.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups to help them manage behaviour and emotions

  • Building trusting relationships so school feels like a safe place

  • Working with pastoral teams and behaviour leads to keep things on track

  • Being that calm voice when things get tricky

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience with SEMH, behaviour mentoring, youth work or similar (paid or voluntary)

  • Patience, resilience and a good sense of humour

  • Someone who enjoys making a real difference to a young person’s day

What you get from us:

  • £90–£110 per day (£450–£550 per week), paid weekly via PAYE – no umbrella faff

  • FREE Thrive training to add to your toolkit (schools love this!)

  • Ongoing support from a friendly local consultant who knows your schools

  • Long-term roles in schools that genuinely value their support staff

If you’re ready to turn tricky mornings into good days, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply now – let’s make a difference, one pupil at a time.
