We’re working with a supportive secondary school in South Tyneside, just a short hop from the coast and easily reached by metro. They’re looking for a compassionate, confident SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team from September.
This isn’t about ticking boxes—it’s about building trust, offering consistency, and helping students with social, emotional, and mental health needs feel seen, safe, and supported.
What the role involves:

1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs

Helping pupils regulate, refocus, and re-engage with learning

Working closely with pastoral teams and SENCOs

Bringing patience, humour, and structure to every day
Who this role suits:

Someone with experience in SEMH or trauma-informed practice

Backgrounds in education, youth work, care or mental health welcome

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
