Job Title: SEMH Support Assistant – All-Through Special School
Location: Northumberland area
Salary: £89–£103 per day (PAYE)
Contract: Full-time, Long-Term
Start Date: September 2025

Because behaviour is communication—and connection is the answer.

We’re looking for a compassionate, emotionally intelligent SEMH Support Assistant to join a specialist all-through school that supports children and young people aged 2 to 19 with a range of complex needs—including autism, social-emotional needs, and speech and language challenges.

The role centres around trust, calm consistency, and understanding what’s going on beneath the surface. You’ll be working alongside a skilled, close-knit team in a school that prioritises wellbeing, therapeutic support, and tailored education for every pupil.

What your day might look like:

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs in small groups or 1:1

  • Helping learners regulate emotions and re-engage with learning

  • Using behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques

  • Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and inclusion leads

  • Helping build daily routines that feel safe, achievable, and empowering

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or autism

  • Calm, patient, and consistent—especially when things get tough

  • A great communicator who builds trust and diffuses stress

  • Comfortable working across different age groups (from early years to sixth form)

Why work with Protocol Education:

  • Weekly PAYE pay between £89–£103 per day

  • FREE CPD including trauma-informed practice, Thrive, and de-escalation training

  • Ongoing support from your own friendly, SEND-specialist consultant

  • Referral bonus scheme—bring great people, earn great rewards

Not Thrive trained yet? No problem—we’ll cover the cost and get you upskilled for free.

This is more than a support role. It’s a daily opportunity to help a young person feel safe, understood, and ready to learn.
