Contract: Full-time (term time only)
Pay: £89.38 – £118 per day (dependent on experience & qualifications)
Are you a patient, resilient, and compassionate individual with a passion for supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are currently seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a nurturing and inclusive primary SEMH provision in Leeds.
This is a highly rewarding role where no two days are the same—but every day makes a difference.
About the Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with class teachers, therapists, and senior staff to support children who may display challenging behaviours or have experienced trauma. You’ll provide tailored support to help pupils regulate their emotions, engage with learning, and build the confidence they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs

Build positive, trusting relationships with children who may have complex emotional needs

Assist in the delivery of tailored learning activities and behaviour support plans

Promote emotional regulation and resilience through therapeutic and supportive approaches

Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external agencies
✅ About You:

Experience working with SEMH, challenging behaviour, trauma-informed care, or SEND is desirable

Calm, empathetic, and confident in managing emotionally dysregulated behaviour

Comfortable using de-escalation strategies and positive behaviour support (Team Teach training a bonus)

A strong team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

A genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children
