Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

Protocol Education is working in partnership with inclusive and supportive Early Years and Primary settings across Lambeth. We are currently recruiting flexible and committed SEMH Early Years Teaching Assistants for both daily supply and long-term placements.

This role is ideal for candidates who are compassionate, proactive, and confident supporting pupils with SEMH, particularly in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).


Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 or small group support for pupils with SEMH needs in Early Years settings

  • Assist in implementing individual support and behaviour plans

  • Support classroom routines and help maintain a positive learning environment

  • Encourage the development of social and emotional skills through play and structured activities

  • Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals

  • Contribute to the safeguarding and well-being of all pupils


Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children with SEMH, ideally within EYFS or Primary

  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to working with young children

  • Good understanding of behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies

  • Relevant TA qualifications or child-related experience (Level 2/3 desirable)

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply through Protocol Education)

  • Availability for flexible supply work or interest in securing a long-term placement
