Job Title: Secondary SEND 1:1 Support Assistant
Location: Bexley
Start Date: September 2025
One student. One consistent adult. One big difference.
We’re looking for a caring, confident 1:1 SEND Support Assistant to work with a secondary-aged pupil at a mainstream school. This student needs someone steady, someone who gets how tough school can feel, and someone who’ll show up every day with calm, kindness, and consistency.
If you’ve worked in SEND support before—or have transferable experience from youth work, mentoring or care—this could be your next step.
What you’ll be doing:
Supporting a KS3 or KS4 pupil with autism, anxiety or communication needs
Building a safe, trusting relationship to boost confidence and engagement
Helping them access learning with adapted tasks, structure and encouragement
Supporting behaviour and emotional regulation throughout the day
Working alongside SENCOs, teachers and pastoral teams to create the right wraparound support
You’ll thrive in this role if you:
✅ Have experience working 1:1 with young people with additional needs
✅ Are confident, patient, and able to adapt when things don’t go to plan
✅ Can set clear boundaries while staying calm and compassionate
✅ Believe every pupil deserves to feel seen, supported and capable
Bonus if you’re Thrive trained—but we’ll cover it if not.
(Free via our CPD Academy—great for this kind of role.)
