About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and inspiring Religious Teacher to join our team in the Wakefield/Kirklees area. The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality, engaging lessons in Islamic Studies (or other specified religion/faith if applicable), Quranic studies (including Tajweed), and moral/spiritual development to children and/or adults, depending on the institution’s requirements.

This role may be based in a madrasa, mosque, supplementary school, private tutoring setting, or community centre.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver structured, age-appropriate lessons in:

    • Quranic recitation with Tajweed

    • Islamic teachings (Fiqh, Seerah, Hadith, Aqeedah, etc.)

    • Moral and spiritual development

    • Relevant historical and cultural religious content

  • Engage learners using modern and traditional teaching methods

  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback

  • Maintain class discipline and create a safe, respectful learning environment

  • Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and the wider community

  • Uphold safeguarding, equality, and diversity policies

  • Attend meetings, training, and events as required


Requirements & Qualifications

Essential:

  • Strong knowledge of Islamic Studies and the Quran

  • Proven experience teaching children or youth in a religious setting

  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Passion for religious education and mentoring

  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one)

  • Right to work in the UK

Desirable (but not mandatory):

  • Ijazah or certification in Tajweed/Quran

  • Formal qualifications in Islamic Studies, Arabic, or related fields

  • UK-recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, PTLLS/DTLLS)

  • Experience working in UK madrasas, mosques, or schools

  • Multilingual ability (e.g., Urdu, Arabic, Bengali, Somali)
