Role Overview:

Protocol Education is seeking a professional, approachable, and highly organised Receptionist to join the office team of a friendly and supportive primary school in Birmingham. This is a key front-of-house role, offering an excellent opportunity to be part of a dedicated team making a real difference in children’s education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet parents, visitors, and contractors in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and emails, handling queries or redirecting as appropriate.
  • Monitor and record pupil attendance, including late arrivals and early collections.
  • Ensure all safeguarding and visitor protocols are followed, maintaining a secure reception area.
  • Perform general administrative duties including photocopying, filing, and producing letters.
  • Use the school’s Management Information System (MIS) to update and retrieve student data.
  • Support with school communications including newsletters, notices, and trip information.
  • Assist with first aid and notifying parents of pupil illness or incidents (training can be provided).
  • Handle incoming and outgoing post and deliveries.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a receptionist or administrator in a school setting is desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel); experience with SIMS or similar systems is beneficial.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a busy school office.
  • Warm, professional, and child-friendly manner.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply through Protocol Education).
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
