Pupils here are supported not just to learn, but to thrive: building independence, communication, and life skills in a nurturing community that celebrates every achievement, no matter how small. The school’s ethos is rooted in inclusion, respect, and care, ensuring that each young person is empowered to flourish both in and beyond the classroom.

The Role

  • Assist with sensory-based and therapeutic activities that form part of the curriculum

  • Use a range of communication methods, such as PECS, Makaton, or assistive technology, to support access to learning

  • Encourage independence, resilience, and positive social interaction

  • Support with personal care routines in a respectful, dignified manner

  • Contribute to behaviour support and emotional regulation strategies

What We’re Looking For

  • A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2/3 or above)

  • Experience supporting pupils with profound, multiple, or severe learning difficulties

  • Knowledge of communication tools such as Makaton, PECS, or AAC (desirable but training provided)

  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to learning support

  • Commitment to teamwork, safeguarding, and inclusive practice

Why Apply?

  • Join a setting where personalised pathways unlock potential for every learner

  • Be part of a highly skilled team that works closely with therapists, families, and external agencies

  • Access free CPD, including Protocol’s Thrive training, to strengthen your skills in emotional wellbeing and SEND support

  • Weekly pay via PAYE and tailored consultant support throughout your placement
