We’re working with a specialist SEMH provision in Gateshead that supports pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs. They’re looking for a passionate, resilient graduate to join their team as a Behaviour & Learning Support Assistant.
This is a unique opportunity to apply your psychology knowledge in a practical setting, supporting pupils to engage with learning, build confidence, and develop key skills for life.
The role includes:

Working 1:1 or with small groups, supporting learning and behaviour

Helping pupils regulate emotions and stay focused

Supporting teaching staff with classroom routines and interventions

Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff

Being a positive role model for young people facing challenges
We’re looking for someone who:

Holds a degree in Psychology (or related subject)

Has a genuine interest in supporting young people with SEMH needs

Is resilient, patient, and able to adapt in a dynamic environment

Wants to gain experience in education, youth work, or mental health support
-
Is open to further training, including Thrive or behaviour management

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
