SEND Teaching Assistant — Specialist Primary Provision (Ages 2–11)
About the School
This is a local authority–maintained, specialist primary provision serving children aged 2 to 11 with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The school supports learners with a wide range of additional needs—including severe learning disabilities, autism spectrum conditions, profound and multiple learning difficulties, cerebral palsy, Down’s syndrome, speech and language challenges, and complex emotional or trauma-related needs.

Role Overview
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you’ll be pivotal in helping pupils access a broad, adapted curriculum suited to their individual needs. You’ll support learning alongside qualified teachers and specialist staff, often in richly resourced environments. You’ll help pupils explore, communicate, and grow with confidence in both classroom and bespoke therapeutic spaces.
Key Responsibilities

Assist delivery of a differentiated curriculum, tailored to EHCP goals and individual learning pathways.

Support pupils with complex communication needs, using a range of strategies objects of reference, signing, symbols, photographs, or other visual aids as part of an inclusive communication ethos.

Facilitate learning in specialist facilities: hydrotherapy, sensory rooms, soft play areas, food tech, immersive zones, and more.

Contribute to a safe, inviting, and joy-filled environment where pupils feel secure, motivated, and encouraged to learn.

Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, therapists, educators, and families to implement pupil-centred strategies.

Foster independence, confidence, cooperation, and moral development through well-structured routines and high expectations.
Skills & Attributes

Experience working with young learners with complex SEND profound and multiple learning needs, autism, or related communication difficulties.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
