PMLD SEND Teaching Assistant – Gateshead
Full-Time | September Start | Specialist Support Role

We’re looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) in a specialist setting in the Gateshead area.

This is a full-time role starting in September — perfect for someone who thrives on building trust, providing tailored support, and being part of a close-knit team that puts pupils first.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils with complex needs

  • Assisting with personal care, sensory programmes, and communication strategies

  • Working alongside teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to create a supportive environment

  • Using patience, empathy, and creativity to help each pupil engage and progress

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience supporting pupils with PMLD or complex SEND

  • A calm, compassionate approach and a willingness to learn

  • Confidence supporting personal care and communication needs

  • Full-time availability from September

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
