Love a good rhyme and a well-timed sound button? You might just be the phonics hero we’re after! ✨
We’re working with a brilliant Wakefield primary school that’s on the lookout for a fab Phonics TA to join their KS1 team this September. You’ll be right at the heart of early reading—helping little learners master their sounds, build confidence, and fall in love with books (yes, even the wiggly ones!).
This role is perfect for someone who:
✅ Knows their digraphs from their dinosaurs
✅ Can deliver phonics interventions with energy and care
✅ Spots when a pupil’s falling behind—and knows how to help
✅ Loves seeing those lightbulb moments when it finally clicks!
What your day might look like:
-
Running phonics sessions with small groups or 1:1
-
Supporting whole-class learning during literacy time
-
Helping create a classroom where sounds are celebrated
-
Giving quiet encouragement (and the odd gold star) when needed
The school offers:
-
A warm, nurturing team who value support staff
-
Structured phonics schemes (think Read Write Inc or Little Wandle)
-
Time and training to help you grow in the role
-
A proper staffroom, complete with kettle and kindness
And from Protocol Education:
-
Weekly PAYE pay – no umbrella nonsense
-
FREE CPD (including phonics training if needed!)
-
Thrive training available – great for emotional support skills
-
A local Wakefield consultant who knows their schools (and sounds)
-
Quick, easy registration and real human support
