About the Role
We are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive special needs primary school in Chingford to recruit an experienced and compassionate Nurture Teacher. The school supports children aged 5–11 with a range of special educational needs and is deeply committed to creating a safe, therapeutic and nurturing environment that helps every child thrive both socially and academically.
As a Nurture Teacher, you will:
- Lead a small nurture group to support pupils who experience social, emotional and mental health challenges alongside their additional learning needs.
- Plan and deliver creative, child-centred activities that build emotional resilience, self-confidence and social skills.
- Establish strong, trusting relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
- Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, the SENCO and external agencies to ensure coordinated, holistic support.
- Create a predictable and supportive classroom atmosphere guided by the principles of nurture and trauma-informed practice.
About You
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), ideally with primary or SEN experience.
- A commitment to inclusive education and a belief in the transformative impact of nurture-based approaches.
- Knowledge of attachment theory, nurture group practice and trauma-informed teaching strategies.
- Patient, empathetic and flexible, with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Confident working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Previous experience in a nurture group, SEMH setting or specialist provision is desirable, but not essential. The school will provide full induction and specialist training.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
