We’re working with a specialist secondary setting in South Shields that supports pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH). They’re looking for a compassionate Mental Health Support Worker to join their team from September.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting pupils aged 11–16 who face a range of emotional and behavioural challenges

  • Building trusted relationships and helping students feel safe, heard, and valued

  • Delivering personalised interventions to support self-regulation and wellbeing

  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and therapists to create a consistent, trauma-informed approach

  • Encouraging positive behaviour and celebrating small steps of progress

About you:

  • Experience supporting young people with SEMH, trauma, or behavioural needs

  • Confident using de-escalation strategies and building trust over time

  • Patient, empathetic and able to stay calm under pressure

  • Relevant background (education, youth work, mental health, psychology or care)
