Are you a maths graduate, or in your final year of study, looking to gain valuable experience supporting children and young people with additional needs? Protocol Education is offering full-time roles across primary and secondary schools throughout the North East—including Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, and Northumberland.
These term-time only roles are perfect for aspiring teachers, educational psychologists, intervention specialists, or anyone looking to make a difference while gaining hands-on school experience. You’ll work closely with pupils who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs), supporting both their wellbeing and academic progress.

What You’ll Be Doing

Supporting pupils with SEMH and additional needs in the classroom

Helping students who struggle with numeracy to build skills and confidence

Assisting with targeted maths interventions and booster sessions

Reinforcing classroom learning through structured support and tailored resources

Working alongside class teachers, SENCOs, and support teams to deliver inclusive education

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
