Your Day-to-Day:

  • One-to-One Support – Build a trusted relationship with the pupil, creating calm, connection, and a sense of security in the classroom.

  • Personal Care – Provide respectful, dignified support with personal care needs when required.

  • Communication Boost – Use tools like PECS, Makaton or other non-verbal strategies to help the child express themselves and connect with learning.

  • Grow Their Independence – Encourage curiosity and confidence, helping them take small steps that lead to big progress.

  • Team Effort – Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and parents to create a tailored support plan that really works.

You’ll be great in this role if you…

✔️ Have experience supporting children with autism (ASC)
✔️ Are comfortable with personal care
✔️ Know your way around non-verbal communication tools
✔️ Bring patience, empathy, and a proactive mindset
