Learning Mentor – Shrewsbury

We’re working with a welcoming secondary school in Shrewsbury that’s looking for a Learning Mentor to join their amazing pastoral team. This isn’t about textbooks or targets—it’s about trust.

You’ll be the steady hand for students who’ve lost their way a little, maybe they’re struggling with behaviour, confidence, or something more personal. Your role? Help them feel seen, heard, and supported.

If you’re the kind of person who can build a connection over a cup of tea and a quiet chat, read on.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting students 1:1 or in small groups to help them re-engage

  • Encouraging routine, confidence, and a sense of belonging

  • Working closely with teachers to spot patterns and celebrate progress

  • Using behaviour strategies that actually work—because you know one size never fits all

What makes you a great fit:

  • You’ve worked with young people before (in schools, youth clubs, mentoring, or support roles)

  • You’re calm, kind, and patient—even when things get tough

  • You’re reliable and resilient, with a steady presence students can count on

  • You’re great at listening, thinking on your feet, and knowing when to push or pause

Bonus if you’ve got:

  • A Level 2 or 3 TA qualification

  • Experience in mental health support, counselling, or pastoral care

  • Thrive training, and if not, don’t worry, you’ll get free access through us!

Why it’s worth it:

  • Join a school that genuinely champions student wellbeing

  • Get weekly PAYE pay (no umbrella deductions)

  • FREE access to Thrive training and our CPD Academy

  • Make a real difference to real lives—every single day
