Location: Waltham Forest, East London

Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Salary: £90–£115 per day (depending on experience and training)

A well-established and supportive Primary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Newham is looking for a patient and resilient Learning Mentor to join our team.
We support pupils aged 5–11 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs who benefit from a personalised, therapeutic approach to learning and behaviour. This is a rewarding opportunity to help young learners re-engage with education and build brighter futures.
What you’ll do
- Support pupils with challenging behaviour inside and outside the classroom.
- Build trusting relationships to help pupils feel safe and understood
- Help implement individual behaviour support plans and therapeutic strategies.
- Promote emotional regulation and social skills.
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, families and external professionals.
- Support pupils transitioning back to mainstream or specialist settings.
What we’re looking for
- Experience working with children with SEMH or behavioural needs (ideally in a school, PRU or similar setting).
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills, with a calm, consistent approach.
- Team Teach training (or similar) is desirable, or willingness to complete training.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
