Are you a teaching assistant or support worker with a knack for helping pupils catch up and build confidence? We’re looking for an experienced Intervention Teaching Assistant to work in a Wakefield primary school, delivering targeted support across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

This full-time role is focused on running small group interventions and 1:1 academic support sessions in literacy and numeracy—ideal for someone with experience in phonics, catch-up strategies, or learning recovery.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading academic interventions in reading, writing, and maths

  • Working with groups and individuals identified for additional support

  • Supporting class teachers to close gaps in learning

  • Monitoring and recording pupil progress alongside the SENCO and SLT

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience supporting primary pupils in academic interventions

  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills

  • Familiarity with phonics schemes such as Read Write Inc or Letters and Sounds

  • A calm, encouraging approach with good behaviour management

Preferred but not essential:

  • Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or 3)

  • Experience as a tutor, HLTA, or in catch-up/booster roles
