This Academy is a coeducational secondary school for students aged 11 to 16, located in Custom House within Newham, London. It converted to academy status under the Burnt Mill Academy Trust in January 2018 and continues to foster an inclusive environment with a “Good” Ofsted rating.

 

 

Teach History across Key Stages 3 and 4, designing and delivering engaging lessons that align with the National Curriculum.

Plan and coordinate resources to suit diverse learning needs, including differentiated materials and interactive approaches.

Monitor and assess student progress; provide timely feedback and support exam preparation (GCSE History).

Contribute to departmental initiatives, collaborate on cross-curricular projects, and promote the humanities across school life.

Engage with parents, guardians, and colleagues to support student achievement and well-being.

Participate in professional development and support the Academy’s broader aims and values.

 

We’re seeking someone who:

Qualified: Holds QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and ideally a degree in History or a closely related subject.

Experienced: Familiar with secondary-level History teaching and GCSE exam requirements.

Innovative: Uses diverse teaching strategies to inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and historical inquiry.

Student-Centred: Skilled in adapting instruction to meet differing abilities and backgrounds.

Collaborative: A team player who shares ideas and best practices and contributes positively to school culture.

Committed: Dedicated to continuous improvement and student success within a dynamic academy setting.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
