We’re working with a specialist SEND school in Sunderland that supports pupils with a range of complex needs, including learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.

They’re looking for a committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team and play a key role in both classroom learning and small group interventions.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Supporting the teaching team with tailored learning plans

  • Leading small group sessions and targeted interventions

  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils

  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff

  • Helping create a positive, inclusive classroom environment

What They’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience as a TA or HLTA in SEND settings

  • Confident leading learning with individuals and groups

  • Patient, adaptable, and resilient with a great sense of humour

  • Thrive training (or willing to undertake) is a big plus

  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
