A SEND School in Havering is looking to recruit a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support specialist students with SEMH and additional needs between the ages of 4–19 years old.

This role is dedicated to those who want to inspire students with SEND, many of whom come from distressed or challenging backgrounds. The ideal candidate will be confident, resilient, and committed to making a positive impact in the lives of children with complex needs.

The right candidate will need to:

  • Be confident using de-escalation strategies

  • Be resilient, emotionally robust, and able to handle challenging behaviour

  • Have a background or interest in SEN or Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH)

  • Be empathetic and committed to supporting each child as an individual

  • Ideally have a background in sports, outdoor education, or activity coordination, as this role includes regular outdoor learning and physical activities

Working Hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 8:30am – 5:00pm

  • Friday: 8:30am – 3:00pm

This is a full-time, long-term role with a competitive salary, dependent on experience.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
