Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Location: Southend
Contract Type: Full-Time
Salary: £90-105 per day + £50 referral bonus
Start Date: To start ASAP


Role Overview:

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting both teachers and students in the classroom. You will be responsible for assisting with lesson planning, delivering engaging lessons, and providing targeted support to students of all abilities, both one-on-one and in small groups. Your work will help create a positive, inclusive environment where every student feels respected and empowered.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with planning and delivering lessons in collaboration with teachers.

  • Provide support to students of all abilities, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

  • Work with students on a one-on-one basis or in small groups to reinforce learning and development.

  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes respect, engagement, and achievement.

  • Support the classroom teacher in managing student behavior and ensuring a safe and productive learning environment.

  • Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers as necessary.

  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to continue growing in the role.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in a school setting is essential.

  • Experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is a bonus.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage students effectively.

  • A passion for working with children and a commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment.

  • Ability to work as part of a team, while also being able to take initiative when necessary.

  • A relevant qualification (e.g., HLTA qualification or equivalent) would be advantageous but not essential.
