Are you a creative graduate or an aspiring Art Therapist looking to gain meaningful, hands-on experience working with young people? Protocol Education is partnering with a variety of supportive and inclusive schools across Tyne and Wear to recruit Learning and SEND Support Assistants for the upcoming academic year.

In these roles, you will work closely with students who have special educational needs and disabilities, behavioural challenges, or emotional barriers to learning. Your creative skills will be invaluable in supporting students to express themselves, regulate their emotions, build confidence, and engage more effectively in their education. You may use elements of creativity and visual communication to connect with students on a one-to-one basis or within small group settings, under the guidance of experienced teaching and support staff.

Schools are located across Newcastle upon Tyne, Gateshead, South Shields, North Shields, Sunderland, Washington, Hebburn, Jarrow, Whitley Bay, Tynemouth, Wallsend, Boldon, Houghton-le-Spring, Blaydon, Ryton, and Birtley. Each school offers a unique environment, from large urban academies with diverse student populations to smaller schools with strong community values and specialist SEND provisions.

We are looking for graduates with a background or interest in art, creativity, or therapy who have excellent communication skills, patience, and an empathetic approach to supporting children with additional needs. You must be available Monday to Friday during school hours.

Working with Protocol Education, you will benefit from personal consultant support, access to free CPD courses to build your skills and confidence, and competitive weekly pay.

If you are serious about a career in Art Therapy and want to gain the essential practical experience that postgraduate training providers value, apply today to begin your journey with Protocol Education.
