Geography Teacher Wanted – Put Wakefield on the Map This September!
Are you a cartographer of curiosity? A volcano enthusiast? Someone who lights up at the mere mention of oxbow lakes? If you're ready to turn your passion for the planet into powerful lessons, we’ve got the perfect role for you.
Wakefield’s secondary schools are on the lookout for an inspiring, energetic, and slightly weather-obsessed Geography Teacher to join our team this September.
About the Role:
You’ll be teaching inquisitive young minds about the wonders of our world – from tectonic tantrums to global trade, and everything in between. If you love a good contour line and aren’t afraid to argue the finer points of coastal erosion, this is your stage.
You’ll have the freedom to make lessons come alive with creative resources, field trip ideas, and (hopefully) fewer PowerPoints about soil types.
You’re Our Kind of Geographer If You:
-
Hold QTS (or will by September) and have a specialism in Geography
-
Can name at least three types of rainfall (and explain them with flair)
-
Believe that learning should be interactive, relevant, and maybe even a little bit fun
-
Love the idea of helping students explore the world beyond Wakefield
-
Are just as happy leading a classroom debate on climate change as you are building a model river in the corridor (again)
What You’ll Get:
-
A supportive, friendly department with a good sense of humour
-
Opportunities for career development and subject leadership
-
Field trips (and possibly muddy boots)
-
Students who are eager to learn, question, and occasionally ask if you’ve actually met David Attenborough
-
Competitive MPS/UPS salary
-
A chance to teach with purpose and make your mark
Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-time, permanent
How to Apply:
Send your CV and a short cover letter (bonus points if you use a geography pun) to [email address] by [closing date].
Let’s explore the future together — one map, mountain, and meander at a time.
