English Teacher – Middlesbrough

Location: Middlesbrough
Salary: Weekly PAYE pay (rate based on experience)
️ Start Date: ASAP or September 2025

If you love language, believe in the power of a well-told story, and can turn reluctant readers into curious thinkers—this one’s for you.

We’re working with a secondary school in Middlesbrough looking for a brilliant English Teacher who can help students find their voice, grow in confidence, and smash those pesky exams (without losing the love of learning along the way).

This role is about more than punctuation and poetry. It’s about unlocking potential, encouraging debate, and helping young people believe in the power of their own words.

What you'll be doing:

  • Teaching KS3 and KS4 English (GCSE experience a big plus)

  • Delivering lessons that are engaging, purposeful, and challenging in all the right ways

  • Supporting pupils of all abilities to make real progress—whether it’s understanding Shakespeare or smashing their sentence structure

  • Building a classroom environment where every student feels seen and supported

  • Working closely with a strong English department and supportive SLT

What we’re looking for:

  • A qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent)

  • Someone who’s confident with the curriculum and creative in delivery

  • A natural communicator who builds great rapport with students and staff

  • Resilient, reflective, and ready to make a difference

  • Thrive trained? Fab. If not, we’ll sort you out—for free

What you’ll get from us:

  • Weekly PAYE pay—no umbrella faff

  • A dedicated local consultant who knows the schools inside out

  • Access to our free CPD Academy to boost your skills

  • Free Thrive training to support pupil wellbeing

  • Quick and supportive registration process
