We’re looking for English graduates to join secondary schools across Newcastle as Learning Support Assistants. It’s a brilliant way to use your subject knowledge and communication skills to support pupils who need an extra hand with reading, writing and understanding texts.
This is hands-on experience that’s perfect for anyone thinking about teaching, speech and language therapy, or working in education long-term.
What you’ll be doing:

Working 1:1 and in small groups with students who need extra literacy support

Helping with reading, comprehension and structured writing tasks

Supporting teachers to manage behaviour and keep lessons running smoothly

Building positive relationships that boost pupils’ confidence and progress
We’d love to hear from you if you:

Have a degree in English (or a related subject)

Are patient, approachable and enjoy working with teenagers

Can adapt quickly to different classrooms and learning needs

Have some experience with young people (tutoring, volunteering, mentoring etc.)
