English Graduate Teaching Assistant – Primary Schools | Southwark
Love literacy? Big on books? If you’re an English graduate thinking about a career in education, this one’s for you.
We’re working with primary schools across Southwark looking for enthusiastic, switched-on grads to support children’s learning—especially in reading, writing, and all things phonics. You’ll work alongside class teachers, run small group interventions, and help pupils build confidence one word at a time.
What you’ll be doing:
-
Supporting pupils with English and literacy across KS1 and KS2
-
Running 1:1 and small group sessions
-
Helping with phonics, guided reading, and creative writing
-
Getting stuck into the life of the classroom (and yes, maybe the odd glue stick emergency)
About you:
-
You’ve got a degree in English or a related subject
-
You enjoy working with children and can explain things clearly and kindly
-
You’re reliable, enthusiastic, and ready to make a difference
-
Previous school or tutoring experience is a bonus—but not a must
DBS Reminder:
You’ll need a child-only Enhanced DBS on the Update Service. Don’t have one yet? No worries—we’ll guide you through the process and help you get it sorted quickly and affordably.
