We’re looking for a brilliant Early Years Teaching Assistant to support a specialist SEND school in South Shields. The school caters for children aged 3–16 with a range of additional needs, and it’s a place where aspiration, commitment, manners, and enjoyment are more than just words—they’re lived every day.
This is a full-time role working with nursery and reception-aged children, ideal for someone who’s calm, creative, and confident supporting children with a range of learning and sensory needs.
What you’ll be doing:

Supporting Early Years pupils with classroom routines, play-based learning, and communication

Assisting with personal care, mobility, and sensory regulation

Creating a warm, structured space that helps every child thrive

Working closely with teachers and therapists to tailor your support
What we’re looking for:

Experience in Early Years or SEND (or both!)

A nurturing approach and a positive, patient attitude

Confidence using visual aids, sensory resources, or communication systems (PECS/Makaton a plus!)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
