Creative SEND Teaching Assistant – Sunderland

Are you passionate about creativity and making a real difference in young people’s lives?
We’re looking for a creative, hands-on Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND setting in Sunderland this September. This school supports children and young people with Autism Spectrum Conditions and associated communication needs — using creative approaches to help pupils build confidence, expression, and skills for life.
Whether it’s art, music, drama, or craft, your creativity could be the key to unlocking new ways for pupils to learn and engage.
Your role will include:

Supporting pupils with Autism and associated needs, using creative activities to aid learning and communication

Assisting with classroom tasks, small group sessions, and 1:1 support

Helping pupils express themselves and build confidence through creative outlets

Working alongside teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff as part of a dedicated team
We’re looking for:

Experience working with SEND or Autism (or a creative background with a passion for education)

A calm, patient approach with a creative flair

Confidence in using art, music, or creative activities in a support role

Full-time availability from September

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
