Creative Teaching Assistant — Specialist Primary Provision (Ages 2–11)

Are you imaginative, hands-on, and passionate about helping children express themselves through creativity? This specialist primary school is looking for a Creative Teaching Assistant to bring energy, ideas, and encouragement to pupils with a wide range of special educational needs.

About the School

The school supports children aged 2 to 11 with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), including autism, severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties, and complex communication needs. It’s an inclusive, nurturing setting with fantastic facilities such as sensory rooms, soft play spaces, immersive learning technology, and creative hubs.

The Role

As a Creative TA, you’ll use art, music, drama, movement, and play to help pupils learn, communicate, and build confidence. No two days will be the same—one moment you could be supporting a sensory art session, the next you might be using role play to bring a story to life or leading a music activity to encourage self-expression.

You’ll work closely with teachers and therapists to make lessons engaging, practical, and tailored to each child’s needs. Most importantly, you’ll help pupils feel valued, included, and proud of their achievements.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting pupils in accessing a broad, creative curriculum adapted to their needs.

  • Using art, music, movement, and drama to make learning fun and meaningful.

  • Encouraging confidence, communication, and independence through creative activities.

  • Helping deliver sensory-based lessons and therapeutic interventions.

  • Working with teachers, therapists, and families to support individual learning plans.

  • Creating a positive, safe, and inspiring environment for every child.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND is ideal, but creativity and enthusiasm are just as important.

  • A background or interest in art, drama, music, dance, or creative play.

  • A caring, patient, and adaptable approach.

  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to build positive relationships.

  • Confidence to try new ideas and bring energy into the classroom.

Why Join This School?

  • Be part of an inclusive, forward-thinking team dedicated to SEND education.

  • Work in a school that values creativity, individuality, and fun as much as academic progress.

  • Gain experience in a wide range of specialist facilities, including sensory and immersive learning environments.

  • Play a key role in unlocking pupils’ potential through imagination, expression, and joy.
