A dynamic and inclusive secondary school in Newham is seeking a reliable and engaging Cover Teacher for Maths for a full-time, short-term assignment starting this September. This is a great opportunity for someone confident in classroom delivery and passionate about supporting student learning in Mathematics.

The successful candidate will step in to deliver pre-set Maths lessons in the absence of the classroom teacher, ensuring consistency and maintaining a focused, supportive learning environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver pre-planned Maths lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4

  • Maintain classroom behaviour and ensure a productive learning atmosphere

  • Engage students with mathematical content and encourage critical thinking

  • Record attendance and any notable behaviour or incidents

  • Liaise with department staff as needed to ensure continuity for pupils

  • Be flexible to cover additional subjects if required


You will be a great fit if you:

  • Have experience covering lessons in a secondary school (preferred but not essential)

  • Hold a degree or have strong subject knowledge in Maths

  • Are confident managing a classroom and engaging students of varying abilities

  • Are calm, adaptable, and proactive in a fast-paced school environment

  • Have a valid Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or are willing to apply for one

  • Are committed to safeguarding and supporting student development
